The Summer Youth Employment program is underway! The program, funded yearly by a grant through the Board of Public Utilities, gives youth ages 14-17 an opportunity to work at businesses in and around the Rosedale area for the summer.
As the first job for most of the students, it provides them a great opportunity to gain job experience, training, and the skills they need to successfully enter the workforce upon completion.
This year, RDA employees Scott Misamore and Je T’aime Taylor interviewed twenty-one applicants and eleven were selected to participate this summer.
The students begin their job placements at the beginning of June and the program will run eight weeks through the end of July. Weekly Lunch & Learn sessions help the students to build valuable skills including interviewing, resume building, and money management among others. RDA is very excited to offer this program once again and we look forward to a great summer!
