Last month, RDA and Spay & Neuter Kansas City (SNKC) co-hosted a community picnic and microchip clinic for pets. About 50 community members and their pets joined us for burgers, hot dogs, pet nail trims, and $10 microchips. Attendees also had the chance to learn more about SNKC’s services, which include low cost spay and neuter, tagging and licensing, and more.
“We attended the event because of the $10 microchips, and it’s all for a great cause,” Rosedale resident Krystle Huddleston said. She brought her son Andreas, and their dog Roscoe, to the event. “I like how RDA does events for the community.”
The SNKC event was a direct result of the 2015 Rosedale Community Survey and the 2016 Dinner with your Data event. In the survey, nearly 27 percent of respondents indicated dissatisfaction with Animal Control. These results were echoed during Dinner with your Data. Community members commented on Animal Control and noted that some dogs in the neighborhood seem poorly cared for.
Luckily, SNKC recently opened a location in Kansas City, KS at 3722 State Ave., and they plan to continue its partnership with RDA. As we move forward, we plan to continue working with organizations like SNKC and Animal Control to help realize the community’s vision of a strong, vibrant Rosedale.
