Rosedalians Always Show Up!

Dear friends,

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my five years with Rosedale Development Association, it’s this: Rosedalians always show up.

In 2016, Rosedalians showed up for kids. Volunteers led Girl Scouts and the Girls and Moms on the Move running program, empowering girls and teaching important life skills. Volunteers coached soccer, volleyball, basketball, and baseball, teaching kids to stay active and treat others with respect. Rosedalians showed up to read to children through the RISE program.

The community showed up — so many that we had to move to a bigger location — to respond to the Rosedale Community Survey results at Dinner with your Data. In conversations with neighbors over tacos, Rosedalians worked together to understand the results and make big plans for acting on them.

Businesses showed up for Rosedale youth, hiring 12 teenagers and coaching them through their first summer job. Community members showed up for weekly Lunch-and-Learns, teaching young people workplace skills from professional dress to interview skills and money management.

Neighbors showed up to neighborhood cleanup days, block parties, and to keep an eye on neighborhood issues day after day. Volunteers showed up for seniors through the Minor Home Repair program, fixing up 12 homes throughout the year.

Rosedalians showed up and made their voices heard in the Rosedale Master Plan process, then went to public meetings, focus groups, and neighborhood meetings, making sure the final plan reflected their dreams for the neighborhood.

If these examples aren’t enough, every year when Feed-a-Family rolls around I find myself worrying that we won’t have enough to provide a Thanksgiving meal, winter coats, and household items for the 25 families we commit to serving. Every year, I’m amazed as people show up with more than enough donations to provide for everyone. This year we served 46 families!

Will you show up to accomplish this mission one more time in 2016? Building a strong and healthy community is only possible through your gifts of your time, money, energy, and expertise. Please consider making a financial contribution online through the PayPal by clicking here or on the button below.

Thank you for all you do to make Rosedale a great place to live, work, and play!

With gratitude,

Erin Stryka, Executive Director
