Our excitement is rising as we are planning our annual RISE Event from January 17 – January 19, 2023! Reading Inspirational Stories to Empower (RISE) celebrates Martin Luther King, Jr. where community volunteers read stories about civil rights and social justice.
We hope to inspire children to continue King’s legacy, by connecting the Civil Rights Movement to their lives today. Youth are given the opportunity to have their voices heard and write a letter to an elected government official about a concern or a change they want to see in the community.
We are looking for volunteers to read in the classroom and if you are interested you can sign up here.
Volunteer training will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 1401 Southwest Blvd, KCK, 66103, from 6:30PM – 7:30PM.
