Executive Director/CEO
Description
Serves as CEO of Rosedale Development Association and is responsible for the consistent achievement of its vision, mission, and action plans under the direction of the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Assure that RDA has a long range strategy, annual operating objectives and timelines
- Develop, maintain and support a strong board of directors; serve as ex-officio of each board committee
- Provide leadership in developing policy, programs, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff; carry out Board authorized plans and policies
- Promote active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of RDA
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations; maintain official records and documents.
- Stay up to date on developments and trends in the field
- Ensure maintenance of RDA facilities
Finance/Fundraising
- Work with staff, the Board Finance Committee and the Board to prepare annual budget; see that the organization operates within budget guidelines
- Ensure that adequate funds are available to enable RDA to carry out its work; expand revenue and fundraising activities to support existing programs and allow for expanded services
- Develop and maintain sound financial practices
- Conduct official correspondence and execute legal documents in conjunction with the president and designated officers
Staff
- Be responsible for the recruitment, supervision and release of all paid staff, interns and operational volunteers
- Ensure that job descriptions are developed, that regular performance evaluations are held and that sound human resource practices are in place
- Maintain a climate that will attract, keep and motivate a diverse staff of top quality people
- Regularly work with community members throughout Rosedale and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity
Communication
- Report to the Board of Directors on implementation of long and short term goals; keep the Board fully informed on the condition of the organization and all significant factors influencing it
- Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals with the objective of creating and strengthening a strong brand
- Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with funders, organizations, neighborhood groups, businesses and institutions
Community Advocacy
- Act as the public face and voice of the organization; represent programs and RDA’s point of view to government agencies, organizations and the general public
- Serve as ombudsman to the community, businesses and neighborhood groups
- Provide leadership and represent RDA in planning and development issues that affect the community including Rosedale master plan.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Three to five years of work experience in nonprofit management including planning, budgeting and evaluation
- Success in developing and implementing strategies that resulted in organizational growth
- Experience in staff supervision and the development of high performance teams
- Experience in volunteer management
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to the RDA mission

Desired Qualifications
- Experience as Executive Director of non profit organization
- Experience in outcomes-based program design and implementation
- Success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate Board member relationships
- Marketing, public relations and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience with managing a capital campaign or a building/development project
- Affinity with the Rosedale community
Compensation
Hiring Range: $63,000-86,000
Hours: full time, salaried. 32 hour work-week. Frequent evenings and some weekends required. Paid vacation and holidays.
All full-time RDA employees are eligible for RDA’s health care plan on the first day of employment. RDA pays 80% of employees’ medical insurance premiums, and 100% of employees’ dental and vision insurance premiums. Other benefits include a 3% IRA match after 1 year.
